European Union Accession: The Challenges for Public Liability Management in Central Europe

Focusing on the challenges faced by Central European nations during their integration into the European Union, this work examines key aspects of public liability management amid the launch of the Euro. It discusses borrowing policies, institution building, and portfolio optimization, emphasizing the importance of fiscal prudence. The papers presented stem from a 1997 seminar organized by the World Bank and European Commission, attended by ten EU applicant countries. The seminar aimed to share best practices and promote effective public liabilities management through regional collaboration.
