Outcasting Armenians

Focusing on the experiences of Armenians during the Tanzimat era, this work challenges the conventional narrative of equality and reform in the Ottoman Empire. Talin Suciyan utilizes archival materials from both the Armenian Patriarchate and Ottoman Archives to highlight the crucial roles Armenians played in Ottoman society. By amplifying their voices, Suciyan argues for a more inclusive understanding of history that acknowledges the struggles and contributions of marginalized groups, thereby enriching the portrayal of this transformative period.
