PREFACE TO THE REVISED EDITION Reflecting on a decade-long journey from a brief sketch to a comprehensive work, I revisit my initial intentions and current insights. In the 1918 edition's Introduction, I expressed my belief that an idea had been clearly articulated, one that would find acceptance once understood. I now recognize that comprehension often arises with new generations. I characterized my initial attempt as flawed and incomplete, a sentiment that was not fully appreciated. Those who delve into the nature of thought understand that grasping fundamental truths often involves emotional conflict. A thinker symbolizes their time through their unique perspective, discovering truths within themselves rather than inventing them. This symbolism is essential for expressing human history, while extensive philosophical texts often add little beyond professional discourse. I assert that my discoveries hold personal truth, and I believe they resonate with future thinkers, though they are shaped by historical and cultural contexts. My earlier writings, born from tumultuous years, were imperfect reflections of my insights. The subsequent years have been devoted to refining these ideas and correlating facts to present them more effectively.
