After several years of writing memories of my 80-some years, I realize it is my way of dealing with many painful parts of my life. I would like to have my progeny know what made their mother tick. I also would like to understand myself. In recalling my childhood, I see many areas that help explain my shortcomings. My hope is that not just the hurtful moments, but also the happy times will be brought back to my conscious awareness. So much of my life after my early years has been joyous. In writing I am reliving my long and happy marriage with Karl, the unexpected sunshine in the four years with Bob, and my contentment in my old age with Jack.
