Then my attempt was concentrated on the laws and customs of my own tribe, the Egbas; later on I enlarged the scope of my investigations, and this work is the outcome. The' difficulties and discouragement encountered may be imagined from the fact that within a single tribe alone certain rites and customs vary. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in our edition. We do, however, repair the vast majority of imperfections successfully; any imperfections that remain are intentionally left to preserve the state of such historical works.
