En savoir plus sur le livre

Scott Carmichael is an inexperienced, divorced, white southern lawyer who finds himself in Washington, D.C. in 1977 defending an educated black man from California accused of raping a white woman. Scott is extremely averse to handling a rape case, especially one involving a black man on the heels of racial tension and race riots in America. But the pressure from a friend and fellow attorney who is close friends with the accused’s family forces him to agree to take on the case.Scott soon discovers evidence which points to the innocence of his client. But when the United States Attorney decides to proceed with the case, Scott learns that “presumed innocent” did not apply to his client. “What did they know that he did not know?” Will Scott’s inexperience cost his client his freedom, and Scott his career?
