En savoir plus sur le livre
Since 1986, the European School of Oncology has broadened its postgraduate teaching activities beyond traditional disease-oriented courses by introducing innovative educational initiatives. Among these are the cloister seminars, which are brief meetings for highly qualified oncologists that focus on specific, controversial aspects of clinical practice and research. Additionally, permanent study groups, or task forces, have been established, inviting a select group of leading experts to meet annually to define the current state of the art and potentially reach a consensus on advancements and treatments in specific oncology fields. This series of ESO Monographs aims to disseminate the findings from the most engaging seminars and study groups, offering concise and updated reviews of the discussed topics. The layout is intentionally kept simple to minimize costs and ensure timely availability, addressing a common issue in medical literature where material can become outdated before publication. Umberto Veronesi, Chairman of the Scientific Committee at the European School of Oncology, emphasizes the importance of these efforts. The monograph includes contributions on various subjects, including experimental strategies for studying breast cancer development, particularly concerning steroid hormones, growth factors, and oncogenes.
