The story follows a French journalist who goes to Spain to die but instead encounters the heroic Spanish people and their unwavering desire for a free life. She sets aside her decadent pessimism and decides to become a military correspondent for the democratic Spanish army. After a brief visit to her homeland, she returns to Spain, unable to live in a country that, through the betrayal of its politicians, denied aid to the Spanish people, leaving them vulnerable to a fascist invasion. Josettina's place is under the banner of proud, free humanity and progress.
