Denn der Kanadier Mike Flanagan ist der hinterbliebene Ehemann von Yaichis verstorbenen Zwillingsbruder Ryoji, der als Erwachsener die Akzeptanz seiner Sexualität im Ausland suchte. Mike will mit seinem Besuch endlich die japanische Verwandschaft kennenlernen und seine Trauer um Ryoji teilen, während Yaichi sich gedanklich seinem Zwillingsbruder erst wieder annähern muss.     Es heißt Abschied nehmen von Onkel Mike für Yaichi und Kana, die alle zusammen über den Tod von Yaichis Bruder zueinander gefunden haben. Denn: »Familie ist wichtig und nur darauf kommt es an!«, wie die kleine Kana ganz richtig bemerkt hat, als der fremde Mike ihr vorgestellt wurde und sie bemerkt hat, dass er so ganz anders ist, als alle anderen in ihrem Umfeld.
