Bývalá hospodyně v Manderley a Rebečin bratranec nechtějí na dávné události zapomenout a Rebeka tak opět tragicky zasahuje do života de Winterových. Román je psaný zcela v duchu původní autorky, ale osudy jejích hrdinů se zde rozvíjejí poněkud násilně a staticky.
