Historicallly, the development of ski jumping hills has been in line with the development of ski jumping techniques. The development of ski jumping centers around the world has made great progress over the past decade, as new ones have been built and many existing centers have been modernized. This monograph presents the brief development of the world’s most recognized ski jumping centers. As a rule, their development has been associated with the organization of major sports events such as the Olympic Games, World Championships, and World Cup competitions. Most centers also have more smaller hills for training and competition of younger jumpers. Modern centers are equipped with hills for winter and summer training and competition. Ski jumping hills are ever more technologically advanced, which guarantees safe and efficient workouts and, above all, an attractive competition. This monograph also deals with ski flying venues that are homologated separately. The historical development of ski jumping hills around the world is related to their size, which has been increasing steadily. Today, ski jumping hills are differentiated from ski flying hills. The development of ski flying hills is a rather important field of interest among the sports community around the world, mainly due to the constant increase in world records.

The development of a competitive sports culture is impossible without the appropriate organizational structures. Successful development of organizational sports culture depends on the successful fulfilment of roles by numerous individuals within its structure. An important value of competitive sport is of course competitiveness which is understood, in the broadest sense of the word, as that particular element which should generally lead to the highest possible quality of competitive sports and particularly its humane and ethical meaningfulness. Athletes play or should play the most important role in competitive sports. And there are many athletes in the world. Their basic aim is to fulfil their competition-related desires and goals. As a rule, athletes wish to fulfil their competitive creativeness up to the highest sports performance. On the way to this goal, athletes encounter numerous factors and obstacles. Only few succeed in reaching the top, the level of the champions’ elite sports performance.
A coach's role is not only that of a trainer, but also of an educator, teacher, psychologist, manager, consultant, animator, technologist, masseur, physiotherapist, etc. In order to successfully perform the professional role of a coach a person must first acquire the proper education and specific professional competence in a chosen sport or form of sports activity. This fairly broad variety of professional competences calls for a substantial leap forward from the current understanding of the system of professional training.
This book aims to design a ski flying hill with a profile of HS300m through kinematic analysis of ski jumpers' flying curves. Resulting from a research project at the Faculty of Sport, University of Ljubljana, it highlights the growing popularity of ski flying, where jumpers can now exceed 240m. The record jump of 245.5m was achieved by Johan Remen Evenson in Vikersund, Norway, in 2011, surpassing Bjoern Einer Rommoeren's previous record of 239m in Planica. The introduction details the history of world records, noting that no new record has been set in the last eight years, although Simon Ammann has made notable jumps of 233m and 236.5m. Simulations suggest that on a larger HS300m hill, Ammann could potentially jump between 270m and 303m, far exceeding the current record. The book proposes designs for the flying curve and profile of the HS300m hill, based on biomechanical studies and recent techniques used in Planica. Safety for jumpers is prioritized, with considerations for optimal conditions and wind factors. The landing profile of the existing HS215m hill serves as a foundation for the new design. Achieving jumps over 300m is now a realistic goal, contingent on the politics of the international ski federation. This book is intended for ski jumping experts and enthusiasts interested in the sport's future.
