En savoir plus sur le livre
Excerpt from Aino Folk-Tales: The Japanese have largely spread across the territory of the Ainos, leaving only a small remnant in Yezo. Historically, the Ainos have fascinated more civilized nations since they were first sent as curiosities to the Emperor of China. Many European writers have documented their unique characteristics, but few have had the insights of Mr. Basil Hall Chamberlain, a Professor of Philology at Tokyo University. He has collected these tales directly from the Ainos and provided a detailed account of their culture and mindset. While it may not be my place to add to such a well-covered topic, I was prompted by the Editor of the Folk-Lore Journal to write an Introduction. This allows me to highlight Professor Chamberlain's perspectives presented in another publication, which may be overlooked by English folklore students interested in the Aino culture. About the Publisher: Forgotten Books specializes in publishing rare and classic works. Utilizing advanced technology, they digitally reconstruct historical texts, preserving their original format while correcting imperfections. While some flaws from the original may remain, they are mostly repaired to maintain the integrity of these important works.
