Motivation is a crucial factor in successful learning, with interest in a subject being the primary driver. However, students often face challenges in maintaining interest across multiple subjects, leading teachers to rely on extrinsic motivators like success. This thesis explores the role of self-efficacy—confidence in one's ability to tackle tasks—in influencing motivation and academic performance. It discusses existing research on the correlation between self-efficacy and achievement, while also addressing the complexities of measuring motivation directly in educational psychology.
